PhD Students & Postdoctoral Researchers within 3 years of graduation are warmly invited to join The SEFI Early Career Researchers’ Club, a series of 9 yearly online meetings focused on topics targeting this career stage. Led by Dr. Diana Martin (UCL), this initiative will start in the academic year 2025/26 with a limited cohort of 18 early career researchers. Topics will revolve on emerging research methods, funding opportunities, professional advice, personal and career development strategies tailored for academic progression.

We envision that the sessions will address topics related to professional and methodological guidance, with the monthly schedule and guests to be confirmed.


Program Structure

  • 9 monthly online sessions (1.5 hours each) throughout the academic year
  • Expert-led discussions featuring 1-2 guest speakers per session
  • Interactive format encouraging dialogue between participants and speakers
  • Focused topics relevant to PhD students and early postdoctoral researchers

Who Can Apply

  • Doctoral researchers at any stage of their PhD journey
  • Early career researchers within 3 years of PhD completion
  • Participants committed to attending at least 5 of the 9 sessions and preparing a brief presentation on a topic linked to a chosen session

How to Apply

  • Complete the expression of interest available here by August 1st, 2025
  • Selected participants will be notified by September 1st, 2025

Upon completion of the program requirements, participants will receive a certificate of participation issued by SEFI. Don’t miss this opportunity to build your research skills, expand your professional network, and gain valuable insights from experienced academics in a supportive environment.
