The SEFI Continuing Engineering Education and Lifelong Learning (CEE/LLL) Special Interest Group invites you to join an interactive symposium exploring the future of lifelong learning in engineering. Organised as a satellite event of the SEFI 2026 Annual Conference in Prague, the symposium builds on the ideas and recommendations presented in the SEFI Position Paper on Lifelong Learning (2025). It will bring together diverse stakeholders to reflect on emerging challenges and opportunities and help shape future priorities for the engineering education community.

Designed as a highly participative event, the symposium will combine short expert contributions with facilitated discussion, allowing participants to exchange perspectives on topics such as institutional strategies, quality and recognition, partnerships, artificial intelligence, and future models for lifelong learning. The discussions will inform the future activities of the CEE/LLL SIG and contribute to a shared vision for lifelong learning in engineering.

We welcome academics, industry representatives, professional association members, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in the future of engineering education and professional development. Lifelong learning is a shared responsibility across the engineering ecosystem, and this symposium aims to foster dialogue and collaboration across sectors.

A digital summary of the event’s key insights and outcomes will be produced, with appropriate acknowledgement of contributors.
