Madrid, 9 July 2025 — In a dynamic session hosted by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid’s Leganés Campus, SEFI Board Member Dr. Ramon Vilanova Arbos (Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona ) and Prof. Dr. Paloma Diaz from the hosting university, and Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) Chair-elect, and students from the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) came together to explore the Challenges and Opportunities in Interdisciplinary STEM Learning.
The session, part of the BEST Symposium on Education, took place from 9:00 to 11:00 and had as invitee Dr. Vilanova who shared insights from his work in engineering education and emphasised the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in shaping the future of STEM curricula.
The highlight of the session was an open dialogue between students and educators, designed to foster mutual understanding and spark innovative ideas about building an interdisciplinary curriculum. Students shared their experiences and expectations, while educators offered perspectives on curriculum development and the integration of interdisciplinary approaches.
As the conversation continues, SEFI and BEST reaffirm their commitment to empowering students and educators alike to co-create the future of engineering education.
