Surveys and questionnaires are flexible and widely used tools for quantitative engineering education research (EER). They offer efficient ways to collect, store and analyse both categorical and quantitative data such as demographics, preferences, or attitudes. However, despite their prevalence, there is little consensus and formal guidance on how to design, report, and critically reflect on survey-based studies.

In this second webinar hosted by the editorial team of the European Journal of Engineering Education (EJEE) we will explore:

–        How to align research questions, survey design, and statistical analysis into a coherent narrative

–        Different types of survey studies in engineering education and their value to the EER community

Who is this for, and what will you gain?

This webinar is designed for engineering educators and researchers with limited training in statistics or educational measurement.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

–        Understand how survey design influences statistical analyses

–        Recognise central educational measurement challenges in quantitative EER

Speakers:

  • Matheus de Andrade, University College London
  • Kristina Edström, KTH Royal Institute of Technology
  • Shannon Chance, TU Dublin

Date and time: Tuesday, 24 June 2025, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM GMT+2 (Brussels time)
