As we transition into a new academic year, I find myself reflecting on an exceptionally vibrant and transformative summer for the European Society for Engineering Education. It has been a season defined by deep collaboration, strategic dialogue, and shared growth. Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of representing SEFI at three pivotal European engineering events, each highlighting a crucial pillar of our mission to advance engineering education.

We are pleased to invite you to submit a candidature to host the 2027 European Convention of Engineering Deans (ECED). Our upcoming convention will be at the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland.
The general objective of the Conventions is to bring together Deans from all over Europe to meet and to discuss in depth common topics, share experiences, identify solutions for problems and build up a network with peers in different European countries.
SEFI launched the conventions in 2005, under the Presidency of Prof. Borri, University of Florence. Since 2011, ECEDs are organised by SEFI, the local engineering education institution and other partners.
Our deans conventions are organised in spring and welcome around 80 high-level participants.
A Letter of Intent, signed by the rector or president of the applying institution, should be submitted to the SEFI office (office@sefi.be) no later than 30 April 2026. For further information, you may contact the SEFI HQ which will share the ECED Terms of Reference.
