PhD Students & Postdoctoral Researchers within 3 years of graduation are warmly invited to join The…
28 May 2025, 15:00 – 16:00 CEST
Join us for a SEFI@work featuring Stephanie Cutler (Penn State University) and Alexandra Coso Strong (Cornell University) who will share their research, as detailed in Chapter 14 The Overlooked Impact of Faculty on Engineering Education from the International Handbook of Engineering Education Research.
This webinar is an opportunity to consider the role of engineering faculty in students’ engineering educational experiences, a topic which is argued as being overlooked within engineering education literature.
This interactive session will be of interest to those that want to:
- Learn more about the ways in which faculty influence engineering education, who faculty are and how we can better support them within their roles.
- Understand the ways faculty can, and do, impact the student experience through their involvement in educational change efforts, their instructional beliefs and practices, their influence on educational structures and culture, and their mentoring and advising roles.
- Discover ways in which we can better support faculty in their roles as both educators and researchers.
- Explore avenues for future work which enhances our understanding of engineering faculty and, in turn, enhance our ability to impact positive and sustainable change within engineering education.
General information on the SEFI@work series around the “International Handbook of Engineering Education Research”:
In 2024 and 2025, the SEFI Special Interest Groups are joining efforts around the International Handbook of Engineering Education Research. With this series we want to support the growth and maturing of the engineering education field and community in Europe and beyond. The goal of the series is to (1) increase the knowledge around engineering education research, (2) to strengthen the engineering education community feeling, and (3) to give a platform to the authors of the handbook’s chapters to disseminate their work.
This SEFI@work is brought to you by the SEFI Capacity Building SIG. The webinar is organised by Natalie Wint (University College London) and Dalila O’Grady (Bristol University). Get in touch if you like to join the SIG.
