According to Adopting and Adapting to Generative AI in Higher Ed Tech, most respondents revealed the AI tasks that educators take on can range from developing policies and guidelines for appropriate AI use, creating institution-wide strategies, consulting faculties on AI applications, to producing training and resources for faculty, staff, and leadership.
To address these responsibilities, institutions would require access to several support sources, including peer-based examples on the adoption processes and policies (Merzifonluoglu, and Gunes, 2025), up-to-date knowledge of AI, communities of practices, how to build trans-departmental collaboration and advocacy for the values guiding the use of AI (Chardonnens, 2025).
In this webinar, we invite a GenZ student from TU Delft Teaching Academy, an academic from highly prestigious and innovative institution and an industry subject matter expert from Bentley Systems to discuss the opportunities, challenges and best practices in communicating and aligning with GenZ students when it comes to the use of AI in Higher Education and workplace after they graduate.
Moderators: Susie Ye (Bentley Systems) & Klara Kövesi (ENSTA – Institut Polytechnique de Paris)
Speakers:
Eva Horlings, TU Delft
- Eva Horlings is a project lead at SPiCE (Students as Partners in Co-creating Education), a team of students dedicated to bringing the student perspective into educational innovation at TU Delft. SPiCE works to bridge the gap between students and staff, shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking educational environment through collaboration and experimentation. One of their projects is their white paper AI in Education for practical suggestions, with a focus on shifting from AI restriction towards AI support and guidance. Eva is currently working on her Master degree on Technical medicine: Imaging & Intervention.
Jan Elen, KU Leuven
- Jan Elen is a full professor at the KU Leuven, Research Unit Educational Sciences, Center for Instructional Psychology and Technology in Belgium. In his research he focusses on the design of learning environments that foster complex learning in higher education. In that context he addresses questions pertaining to both technology for education and technology of education. His work is published in internationally esteemed journals. Jan is or has been member of editorial boards of various journals such as Educational Technology Research and Development, Computers & Education, and more.
Amanda Oliva, Solution Owner, AI Digital Workplace, Bentley Systems
- Amanda is a Solution Owner of AI Digital Workplace at Bentley Systems. She drives enterprise adoption of Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio and other AI tools through strategic guidance, hands-on solution building, and AI agent development. Her focus is on understanding and communicating the “why” behind AI agent use cases—helping teams think critically about automation, prompting better practices, and preparing for scalable governance
This SEFI@work is brought to you by the SEFI Special Interest Group on Attractiveness of Engineering Education. The webinar is organized by Susie Ye (Bentley Systems), Klara Kövesi (ENSTA – Institut Polytechnique Paris), and Sofie Craps (KU Leuven) as part of the SIG’s action “Communicating and aligning with GenZ and Gen Alpha”
