THE 22ND SEFI SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP IN MATHEMATICS SEMINAR

Organising this year’s Mathematics SIG meeting was both exciting and inspiring for us. After being participants for ten years, it was a great honour for us to host it in the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, between 25 and 27 June 2025. We welcomed 65 participants from more than 15 countries, which brought a wonderful diversity of perspectives to our sessions. Despite the varied topics, it became clear that many of us are facing similar challenges, particularly in supporting diverse student populations and managing the transition into higher education.
The feedback we received from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many mentioned that they felt warmly welcomed, and the general atmosphere was open, supportive, and highly collegial. We were especially pleased to see that many young researchers felt comfortable presenting their work for the first time in such an international group – something we value very much as organisers.
During and after the conference, many new ideas for cooperation emerged. It is wonderful to see that the SIG does not just address current challenges, but also serves as a starting point for innovative projects and collaborations.
For us personally, the most valuable outcome of this experience was to bring together both long-standing and new members, and to witness the exchange of fresh perspectives and the creation of new networks. The shared enthusiasm for mathematics education, research, and innovation made the whole experience very special.
