During the SEFI General Assembly, held on 8 September 2026 as part of the SEFI Annual Conference 2026 at the Czech Technical University in Prague, SEFI members elected a new Vice-President and seven new members of the SEFI Board of Directors. Several new leadership appointments within SEFI’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) were also confirmed, reflecting the continued growth and engagement of the SEFI community.
Euan Lindsay Elected SEFI Vice-President
Following the election process, Euan Lindsay (Aalborg University, Denmark) was elected SEFI Vice-President for the period October 2026 to September 2028.
As Vice-President, Euan will work alongside the Board of Directors to support SEFI’s mission of strengthening engineering education across Europe and beyond.
New Members Join the Board of Directors
Members also elected seven Board members for a three-year mandate running from October 2026 to September 2029.
The newly elected Board members are:
- Aida Guerra, Aalborg University, Denmark
- Andrius Jurelionis, Kaunas University, Lithuania
- Diana Martin, University College London, United Kingdom
- Luis Manuel Sánchez Ruiz, Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain
- Erja Sipilä, Tampere University, Finland
The following Board members were elected for another mandate:
- Yolande Berbers, KU Leuven, Belgium
- Inês Direito, Universidade Aberta, Portugal
Together, they bring a wealth of expertise spanning engineering education, research, curriculum development, sustainability, digital learning, and academic leadership. Their appointment further strengthens the diversity and international character of the SEFI Board.
Appreciating Outgoing Board Members
On behalf of the SEFI community, President Emanuela Tilley expressed her gratitude to the Vice-President and Board members whose mandates have come to an end, thanking them for their dedication, leadership, and service to the organisation:

Their contributions have helped shape SEFI’s activities, strategic development, and support for engineering educators throughout their terms of office.
New SIG Leadership Appointments
The conference also marked several important developments within SEFI’s Special Interest Groups.
A new Special Interest Group on Entrepreneurship in Engineering Education was officially established since the last General Assembly, with Asif Khan (Saxion University of Applied Sciences) confirmed as its inaugural Chair.
In addition, members welcomed new leadership appointments in existing SIGs:
- Rola Saad (University College London) was confirmed as Co-Chair of the Curriculum Development SIG.
- Sarah Hitt (NMITE) and Valentina Rossi (EPFL) were confirmed as Co-Chairs of the Sustainability SIG.
These appointments will support the continued development of vibrant communities of practice within SEFI and help advance collaboration on key topics shaping the future of engineering education.
