Engineering Education for Sustainability: Preparing Engineers for a Complex World

The SEFI Conference 2023 on Engineering Education for Sustainability is scheduled to take place at TU Dublin in Ireland from 11-14 September 2023. The conference is a vital platform for discussing how to educate engineers to develop sustainable solutions for the complex challenges facing our world. The deadline for submissions was on March 30, and a selection has been made. Authors will soon be contacted with their review results and invited to submit full papers by 30 April 2023.

The world is facing multiple challenges in the form of climate change, environmental degradation, resource depletion, and social inequality. Engineers must play a vital role in developing sustainable solutions to these challenges. However, this cannot be achieved by merely focusing on technological advancements. Instead, engineers must adopt a broader perspective, taking into account the economic, political, social, and cultural aspects of sustainability.

The Call for Papers on the topic of “How should we educate engineers to ensure that they are best prepared for a complex world?” aims to gather insights and innovative approaches to engineering education for sustainability. This extension of the submission deadline gave the opportunity for more researchers to submit their work and contribute to the conference’s discussions and share their work, experiences, ideas, and best practices in engineering education for sustainability. The participants will engage with leading engineering education, policy, and industry experts to explore how to prepare engineers to be the next generation of sustainability leaders.

In conclusion, the SEFI Conference 2023 is a significant event for those who are passionate about engineering education and sustainability. It provides an opportunity to learn from and network with like-minded professionals from around the world. Together, we will explore the latest innovations in engineering education, share best practices, and collaborate to create sustainable solutions for our world’s complex challenges.
